Mr. Bùi Thanh Tùng, who runs SISC Vietnam instrumentation JSC., a company that sells medical devices and other products in the city, was also troubled by these issues. Some of their products include test drugs that need to be stored at low temperatures, requiring an emergency generator to ensure a stable supply of electricity in the event of a power outage so that the refrigeration and freezing equipment can always be in operation. The company introduced Denyo’ s DCA-25ESK power generator to address such issues. The generator can quickly start up as a backup power source in the event of a power outage, contributing greatly to maintaining the quality of the chemicals.

Creating an environment to maintain a reliable power supply during occasional power outages

Hanoi, Vietnam, experiences occasional power outages, making it essential for local stores and businesses to take measures against them so that they can operate their economic activities in a stable manner. Mr. Bùi Thanh Tùng (hereafter, Mr. Bùi), who runs SISC Vietnam instrumentation JSC., a store selling medical equipment and test kits in the city’s Cau Giay district, also faced the same challenge.

The company’s commercial products, test drugs and test kits, are stored in refrigerated storage and freezing equipment. As each storage temperature is set at 18-19 degrees Celsius, 2-5 degrees Celsius, or -30 degrees Celsius depending on the type of drug, they must be managed under a stable temperature. If a power outage were to occur and the temperature could not be controlled, the inventory would be discarded, making it essential to have a backup power supply available at all times.

Initially, because of the small size of the inventory warehouse, a small generator was utilized. There were many problems with the small generator, and in 2020, when a new refrigerated storage warehouse was built, the company began looking into the possibility of installing a new generator. Mr. Bùi recalls the problems he
was experiencing with inventory storage at the time as follows.

“The small generator we had been using had to be operated manually. Every time there was a power outage, the power supply line had to be changed, which was a hassle. Without a supply of electricity, our inventory would be ruined, costing a major loss. We wanted a product that could solve this problem and provide a stable
power supply.”

Thus, Mr. Bùi began comparing various products, including those manufactured by Denyo, to introduce a new generator. One of the key points in the selection process was to find a product with durability and reliability that could be used stably at any time, because although power outages are infrequent, one never knows when they may occur.

When comparing other brands, an acquaintance recommended the Denyo DCA-25ESK generator.

“If the generator fails during a power outage, it would be devastating to the company. Price was not an issue; we were looking for a product that we could truly trust. Initially, we did not know much about Denyo, but we had a high level of trust in Japanese brands. Japanese products are also highly regarded when it comes to motorcycles, a common means of transportation in Vietnam. As I myself am satisfied with my Japanese motorcycle, I had confidence in the quality of the Japanese brand Denyo.”

The DCA-25ESK generator recommended to the company was a major driving force behind its introduction, as it can be customized to suit the local environment. To eliminate the disadvantage of having to manually operate the generator, which had been a major issue with the previous one, the Denyo dealer created an ATS board and built an automatic start-up switching system. With the support of the dealer, which could flexibly meet the client’s needs, we were able to smoothly provide a system that can automatically operate and supply power in the event of a power outage.

The high durability of the product, including its design that allows it to handle all climate conditions, was also a major evaluation point. Electricity can be output without load, so there is little chance of affecting the equipment. In some cases, power outages can last up to 30 minutes, so another deciding factor was the fact that it uses a diesel engine and consumes very little fuel.

The perfect backup

Attracted by its performance and reliability, within a month, the company decided to introduce Denyo’s DCA-25ESK (20kVA). They purchased two units: one to install as an emergency power source and the other as a spare for the main unit.

Although space was a concern during the installation phase, the DCA-25ESK’s lightweight and compact design made it possible to reduce the required installation space. Mr. Bùi only had to make some stands that could be stacked vertically, and positioned the units above one another. The exhaust system for the generator
also had to be taken into consideration, but the Denyo dealer’s close support made it possible to complete the installation without any problems.

Mr. Bùi commented as follows regarding the actual performance of the unit.

“Since the electricity supply line automatically switches to the generator within 3 to 5 seconds after a power outage, it has been working well as an emergency power source without any problems. It also contributes greatly to maintaining the quality of our test drugs.”

After realizing the benefits, Mr. Bùi purchased an additional unit in 2021, along with the addition of more refrigerated storage units. Currently, two of the units are used as emergency power sources, and the other is utilized as a spare. In the two years since the installation, the company has experienced about 10 power outages, but in each case the generators were able to operate and do their job.

In addition to product specifications, satisfaction with after-sales support was also high. The Denyo dealer from whom the company purchased the DCA-25ESK provided regular maintenance once every two months, and acted quickly to respond to their various requests, providing a great sense of satisfaction.

Considering continued use

Mr. Bùi appreciates the reliability of Denyo’s generators and is considering adding more of them to accommodate further business expansion.

“Denyo generators have become indispensable for the company to continue its business. The benefits of installing them are great, and if we build a new warehouse or need a generator at another branch in the future, we will consider using Denyo’s products. I would even recommend that clinics, hospitals, and other facilities that have refrigerated storage facilities, where we sell our reagents, install one as well.” (Mr. Bùi)
